Heidelberg gave Australian printers the first taste of its partnerships with Konica Minolta and Kodak at a joint event at its Melbourne head office.
The HEI lights evening, which took place on 1 March, showed how what was possible by combining the three vendors' products in the print room and included a live presentation and guest speakers.
Heidelberg said the one-hour presentation gave printers a glimpse of the "productivity gains and growth opportunities possible by implementing efficient processes across the production workflow".
Members of the audience were asked to select print jobs at random from Kodak's web-to-print portal, Insite Storefront.
The jobs were then sent to a five-colour Anicolor press, which worked in unison with a Konica Minolta Bizhub digital press and a Polar 80 guillotine.
The jobs were completed during the presentation and readied for dispatch as the audience looked on.
Heidelberg general manger for sales & marketing Alastair Hadley said he was very happy with the attendance rates.
"The level of interest was high in hearing what the presenters had to say about web-to-print and short-run printing, as well as having an in-depth look at the products and enjoying the true German fare of beer, pretzels, sausages and more beer," he said.
"It was a good night.”
