MGI to show extended-format digital print, finishing options at Graph Expo

Melbourne, FL-based MGI USA will present its portfolio of digital printing and finishing solutions at Graph Expo. Highlights include 40-inch print capabilities as a standard feature on the Meteor DP60 Pro multisubstrate digital press, as well as the JETvarnish digital inkjet spot UV coater. MGI will launch the new DF360 5-in-1 multifunction finishing system (laminate, cut, slit, crease and perf in one pass) at the show.

MGI’s multi-substrate flagship, the Meteor DP60 Pro, offers extended size “Super Format” print capabilities of up to 13 x 40 inches. Beginning with orders placed at Graph Expo, Super Format print capabilities will be a standard feature on all Meteor DP60 Pro units sold by MGI USA (the unit currently offers up to 13 x 26 inches standard).

Meteor DP60 Pro runs paper, plastics/synthetics (including specialty substrates such as canvas) and envelopes up to 350 gsm / 130-lb. Cover / 14 mil for paper and up to 400 micron /16 mil for plastics. There are no click charges, and Fogra certification (ISO 12647-7) for color contract proof creation is available.

The DF360 is MGI’s latest generation of multi-function paper finishing equipment designed to complement both digital and offset presses. Inline and automated standard functions include: duplex film lamination (options for matte, satin or glossy finish; no lamination; and/or multiple finishes, i.e., matte on one side, satin on other), cutting (horizontal and vertical), slitting, creasing and perforation.

With the addition of a lamination function, the DF360 brings many common finishing techniques together, performed in just one pass. It can accommodate sheet widths up to 14 inches and lengths up to 29 inches, for applications such as book covers, brochures, tickets, business cards, photo books, invitations (with tear-off response card) and menus.

MGI’s JETvarnish digital inkjet spot UV coater takes sheets up to 20 x 40 inches standard, providing an economical, digital method for spot UV coating on digitally or offset printed substrates without plates or screens. New for 2010, users also have the option to add a second print line to be used with either a single ink color (for barcodes and other variable-data printing applications) or a second coating formula.
