Rollem describes JetStream as the ultimate finishing system for the digital market and when you examine the potential of the equipment, it is easy to see why. JetStream can be used to slit, trim and slit, gutter slit, perforate, micro-perforate, score - the fastest and best crack-free scoring available - collate or stream feed and semi-slit.
Most settings are pre-programmed and the Rollem SpeedSet system allows jobs to be changed extremely quickly eg from post cards to mailers to greeting cards and back again. Jobs can be produced at a staggering 5,000 sph – unmatched in the industry for this level of post press processing.
Rollem has established a reputation for the quality of cut that can be achieved from its systems and the introduction at Ipex of new JetSlit blades will result in even higher levels of accuracy. Using rotary technology to cut, as opposed to a conventional guillotine, results in not only a more precise edge, less waste and faster productivity, but eliminates marking or ‘crushing’ problems on work that has been thermographed or embossed.
Rollem is showing two updated JetStream models at Ipex. JetStream is aimed at the digital market and during Ipex it will demonstrate how the 0.8 mm gutter slit can minimise waste by producing business cards printed 25-to-view on an SRA3 sheet. The additional gutter space required when using a conventional guillotine would normally give a maximum of only 16 cards (perhaps 20 with some care) on a sheet of this size.
The JetStream system also slits the cards more quickly and with less handling, allowing one operator to perform all tasks from printed sheet to dispatch-ready jobs. Optional features include a pallet loading deep pile feeder, which has a pile height of up to 948 mm, and an automatic collator. Stock sizes can be from 140 x 125 mm up to 712 x 762 mm and stock weights from 100 gsm to 700 gsm.
The new JetStream II is fitted with a shingle conveyor and is set up to demonstrate the enormous productivity and flexibility offered by Rollem equipment, in particular the extremely fast changeover times that can be achieved. Makeready can be carried out using only two or three sheets.
A range of typical digital on-demand products can be seen running, including postcards, greetings cards, photo album, POS brochures and mailing products. One job being produced on the stand consists of laminated and varnished postcards printed eight-to-view, turning these into finished postcards at 8,000 sph.
