ATTEND GEC 2003 FOR FUTURE TRENDS IN PRINTING AND PAPER

With three months to go, bookings have now been received from 850 exhibitors. The exhibition will also offer a wide variety of meetings including IFRA Italia, a conference organised by Comprint and a digital seminar by Assografici.

Three months before the opening of Europe’s premier appointment for the graphic arts, publishing, paper and converting industries: GEC 2003, which will take place from 6 – 10 June at Fiera di Milano Fairground. Applications have been received from the world’s leading players for all the sectors represented there. The display floor will occupy 42,000 net sq.m. and will cover in six halls (as at 31 March applications had already been received from 850 exhibitors, 360 of whom were from 21 countries). Side events include high-level meetings and conferences for the graphic arts, printing and converting industries.
The number of exhibitors and the organisations that have chosen GEC as the forum for their meetings is very good, especially in view of the impact that the threat of war is having on the international economy and the 18 months of recession. The organisers are very optimistic, and hope that when the event opens, the war will be over and the climate will be more favourable and no longer dominated by signs of uncertainty.

On 6 and 7 June, GEC will be the venue for IFRA Italia, a conference for the newspaper industry which is organised in team with ASIG (Italian Association of Newspaper Printers) and FIEG (Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers). IFRA is the leading company worldwide for research and development in the publishing and newspaper industries and promotes Ifra Expo each year.

GEC will also play an important role in outlining the future of the printing industry with a conference on this topic that will be held on 6 June by Comprint International, another high-calibre partner for the event. Assografici (Italian Printing and Paper Converting Industries Association) will focus on the latest management methods for graphic arts companies (Monday, 9 June), and after the cancellation of Imprinta, in Duesseldorf, will host a digital printing (Tuesday, 10 June) which will highlight all the innovations in 2003,

The GEC exhibition is also a mainstay event for the paper industry, with the participation of the topmost international producers who will have an opportunity to meet directly with users at the third session of "Orizzonte Carta", staged in conjunction with Assocarta (Italian Association of Paper, Cardboard and Pulp Manufacturers) during GEC 2003.
