Control of workflow colour and ink management

GMG has launched Flowconnect to centrally operate and control the company's colour management products - Colorserver and Inkoptimiser 4.6 in production workflows.

Flowconnect has been developed in conjunction with Enfocus's Switch.

GMG said that Flowconnect serves as the basis for various future workflow systems and the first workflow has now been implemented using Switch.

GMG said that increasing automation in the graphic arts industry is leading to growing demand for networked, centrally controllable colour management.

The company said that it should be possible to check every step of the process at any time, even if systems of different manufacturers are in use.

By networking colour management workflows, companies can enhance the productivity and production reliability.

Flowconnect enables job ticket-controlled, automatic and flexible handling of print jobs.

GMG explained that Flowconnect with Switch is easy to install, as the Switch Configurator can be started with a single click.

It then collects all the necessary information on its own and listing the available templates and MX4 profiles.

Afterwards, the status of all jobs can be tracked completely in Switch.

Once installed, the GMG colour management runs fully automatically in the background.

Wolfgang Spiegel, technical manager at Peter Becker, said: 'Flowconnect makes my Switch workflows more transparent and streamlined.

I can now supervise and control the whole workflow in Switch, which guarantees a higher efficiency ss only one single hot folder is needed for all jobs, the amount of administration within the workflow and risk of error are reduced substantially.

GMG added that Flowconnect permits load balancing across several of the company's colour management systems, thus ensuring optimum capacity utilisation and guaranteeing that all jobs are processed in the event of one system failing.
