Oce unveils Plotwave 300 large-format printer

Oce has introduced a large-format monochrome printer that is claimed to make it less time consuming for users to print, copy and scan low volumes of technical documents.

The Plotwave 300 is claimed to print 2.3 A0 sheets per minute and is available with one or two paper rolls.

It is also available as a multi-functional version that has a smaller footprint than its predecessors, as the colour scanner is stacked on top of the printer rather than located at the side.

The company claims that the system does not suffer from the stacking problems typically associated with conventional single-footprint systems.

Such problems often include damaged drawings and documents in the wrong order.

The top delivery tray is positioned on top of the system and uses air separation to ensure that documents are stacked in order and are ready to use.

According to Oce, Plotwave 300 can print from - or scan to - any USB memory stick and includes a number of environmental features, such as purpose-built patented Oce radiant fusing technology that fuses toner onto paper.

Thin metallic tiles made of an alloy are used to radiate heat, so they heat up and cool down very quickly.

This means that the system starts up instantly, uses half the energy of comparable systems, makes no noise when it is idling and requires no extra ventilation to keep it cool.

The system also uses a catalytic convertor so that virtually no ozone emissions are produced, creating a healthier working environment.

Plotwave 300's critical components, such as the imaging drum and other moving parts, are completely enclosed to reduce contamination and wear and tear.

High-use parts, such as the paper drawers and panels, are made of reinforced materials to protect them from contact with dust and extend their lifetime.

The separate paper paths reduce paper jams and extra wear on the system.

Oce's Colour Image Logic technology automatically compensates for wrinkles and light colours, while the company's pico printing technology enables users to produce drawings with finer details, sharper lines and text and smooth area fills.
