Heidelberg Offers Color Management Seminars

For printing company CEOs and senior managers, few production issues have greater potential to ruin an innocent night's sleep than anxiety about money, specifically, how to save more of it by doing things faster and more efficiently. In a series of seminars scheduled to take place in five U.S. cities this summer, Heidelberg is out to show printers how to optimize production and raise all-around shop efficiency and competitiveness by working to standards, following procedures, and implementing appropriate training.

Targeted to company owners and senior managers, "10 things Keeping Print CEOs Up at Night" is dedicated to the proposition that a properly calibrated press and prepress workflow is the key to dramatically reducing makeready waste and boosting profitability, and that each of these objectives is closely tied to a company's ability to work accurately, consistently and predictably to clearly defined standards.

Heidelberg kicked off its multi-city tour with a well-attended session held in mid-April at the headquarters of Printing Industries of Georgia in Atlanta. On the agenda: straight talk concerning 10 topics Heidelberg customers have identified as especially troubling:

  - Establishing quantifiable objectives
  - Reducing makeready waste
  - Achieving standard values in the shortest time
  - Achieving standard values accurately & consistently
  - Confirmation of achieving standards
  - Achieving customer satisfaction
  - Job cost reporting and analysis
  - Efficient utilization of equipment investment
  - Ensuring that personnel are current with standards and technology
  - How to quickly achieve G7 certification

Short, Sweet, and to the Point

Conducted by Prinect Press Product Manager James Mauro and Heidelberg Color Specialist Chuck Koehler, Heidelberg's "10 Things…" seminar is notable for its no-nonsense, brass-tacks approach to a complex topic.

The presentation, which clocks in under two hours including Q&A, also addresses G7 certification and the range of tools available to achieve it. Said one attendee, "The program was presented in such a manner that I actually asked Heidelberg to bring it to my company and present to others."

"In the current economy, one of the most important actions a printer can take to save money is to make a conscious effort to reduce wasted time, labor and materials. Proper coordination of prepress and press equipment is essential to this effort," states Ray Cassino, director, Prinect product management.  "This powerful seminar delivers a wealth of Heidelberg expertise in an economical format designed to share proven strategies for shortening makeready times, reducing waste and achieving greater efficiency and productivity."
