The Printing of Inaugural Invitations

Commercial printer Precise Continental worked round-the-clock to meet a deadline to print one million invitations to President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration. The printing of the invites were featured on CNN. The 65-employee Brooklyn, NY-based company had less than three weeks to etch, engrave and print the invitations. The company won the bid on Dec. 11 and the job needed to be ready for shipping by Jan. 2.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee looked for a firm with a strong union and capabilities to print on recycled paper. The invitations were printed on Neenah Paper’s Classic Crest recycled 100 natural white.
