MAN Roland has introduced a new occupational safety management system for its facility in Augsburg. The Occupational Health and Risk Management System, or OHRIS for short, is a management system introduced by the Bavarian state government for more health at the workplace and more safety of technical installations. The certificate was handed over to MAN Roland’s management at the MAN Museum in Augsburg by the Employers’ Liability Insurance Association and the Factory Inspectorate.
With the OHRIS-certified occupational safety management system, MAN Roland is prioritizing its staff’s well-being. The aim is to use safer equipment and create human-engineered workplaces. “OHRIS gives MAN a more secure position in terms of statutory compliance,” explains Anton Büchele, Head of Occupational Safety at MAN Roland. The printing press manufacturer also uses its new management system to present its corporate processes more transparently to customers, suppliers and network partners. “We can show people from outside the company everything we’re doing to comply with statutory stipulations. This will make it easier for us to close deals,” says Büchele.
Regularly audited with meticulous stringency
To ensure that it remains in line with state-of-the-art occupational safety, the printing press manufacturer will have its system monitored on an annual basis, and undergo a recertification process every three years. “With OHRIS, we’ve already put in a lot of preparatory work, and laid the foundations for a further international occupational safety system,” reveals Büchle. The printing press manufacturer is planning to have its facility in Augsburg certified next year under the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, or OHSAS 18001 for short.
