Mutual Growth of CHINA PRINT Show

CHINAPRINT

The 8th Beijing International Printing Technology Exhibition (CHINA PRINT 2013), will be held in the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC) from May 14th to 18th of 2013. It will be the focus of the year for the global printing industry.

The global economy has been experiencing a recession in recent years. Printing industry is also within the impact range. It has been a normal situation for printing exhibitions in Europe, America or Japan to have smaller show sizes, fewer visitors and lower trade volume. However, CHINA PRINT 2013, organized by the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC) and the China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation (CIEC Group), is writing a completely different story with its rapid booth sales. During the press conference on Drupa in May of 2012, the organizer has announced that 100,000 square meters of NCIEC’s indoor show space has already been sold out, with over 200 exhibitors still in the waiting list. In August of 2012, the organizer has decided to build up temporary halls to satisfy exhibitors’ demand. Since then, the total show area keeps increasing till 160,000 square meters, with nearly 1,000 exhibitors participating. The show size has increased 60% comparing with the last CHINA PRINT.

  Three Decades of Tremendous Growth

Trade show is known as barometer of economy and industry development. In the 33 years after adopting the Reform and Opening-up policy, China has created an epic with average double-digit annual GDP growth. The total output value of the printing industry has increased from 4.8 billion RMB in 1978 to 867.7 billion RMB in 2011, which is 180 times larger. The steady growth of the printing industry is the foundation of CHINA PRINT’s development in 30 years.

In 1984, CHINA PRINT has been established with the approval of the State Council. The first event was organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the State Economic Commission, and was held in the National Agricultural Exhibition Center(NAEC). Li Peng, former Premier, Hu Qiaomu, former member of the Political Bureau, and Deng Liqun, former secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, had all sent their wishes to show。

In 1988, the second CHINA PRINT has been approved by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, also known as UFI, to be the first UFI member exhibition in China.
CHINA PRINT keeps a steady development in the 1990s. Its size reached 16,000 square meters in 1992 and 21,000 square meters in 1996.

The rapid growth starts in the 21st century. The 5th CHINA PRINT and the 7th World Print Congress was held in Beijing at the same period in 2011. The exhibition has occupied all 50,000 square meters of the China International Exhibition Center(CIEC), making it Top 6 printing show in the world.

In 2005, the 6th CHINA PRINT has occupied all show area of both the CIEC and the NAEC, reaching 92,000 square meters.

In order to meet the need of growing market demand, CHINA PRINT sponsors decided to partner with the Guangdong Printing Association(GPA) to establish a new exhibition, PRINT CHINA, in the Dongguan city of Guangdong province. The first PRINT CHINA 2007 has reached 80,000 square meters and has become a new focus of the global printing and exhibition industry.

In 2009, the 7th CHINA PRINT was successfully held during the global financial crisis. The exhibition has been moved to the NCIEC. The total show area has exceeded 100,000 square meters, becoming a top-three printing show in the world. 1,284 exhibitors,162,580 visitors from 108 countries and regions to attend. During CHINA PRINT 2009, the Asia Print federation was founded with 7 founding members including China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines and Pakistan. Mr。Wang Demao, vice executive Chairman of PEIAC, has been elected the president of Asia Print till today。

In 2011, the 2nd PRINT CHINA has achieved a growth of 50% comparing with is debut, reaching 120,000 square meters. 171,256 visitor entries have been recorded, growing by 64.3%. The on-site trade value has grown 4 times, reaching 5 billion RMB. PRINT CHINA has therefore been selected as a top-10 cultural exhibition of Guangdong Province and the key project in building Dongguan into a cultural city.

  Joint Force to Build Brands

Both CHINA PRINT sponsors, PEIAC, which is China’s printing industry authority, and the CIEC Group, which is China’s leading exhibition enterprise, have established a strong partnership to build up the CHINA PRINT brand. PEIAC and its 10 sub-branches have also utilized their superiority in the industry to organize members to participate. CIEC group shows its advantage by providing show venue and various exhibition services.
PEIAC and CIEC have established a joint venture In Beijing, the China Print Show Company, in 2008 in order to build up CHINA PRINT into a more professional and internationalize exhibition. This new way of cooperation leads to the great success of CHINA PRINT 2009.

PEIAC and CIEC have partnered with GPA to establish another joint venture in Dongguan city, the Print China Show Company, in 2010. It has become the foundation of PRINT CHINA 2011’s success.

CHINA PRINT has also received great support from various government departments in its 30 years of development. It has been enlisted as an officially supported exhibition of MOFCOM China in April 2012. In May 2012, Mr. Xu Jianguo, Chairman of PEIAC and president of Shanghai Eclectics Group, has been elected the vice Chairman of Global Print federation.

The preparation of CHINA PRINT 2013 has been carried out by teams in both Beijing and Dongguan. The organizer has brought CHINA PRINT road show to over dozens of countries in the last two years. The promotion also reach all domestic provinces, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan region. It is estimated that over 180,000 visitor entries will be recorded during CHINA PRINT 2013.

  Record-Breaking Grand Gathering

China’s economic growth has been slightly slowed down due to the influence of global economic downturn. The 18th National Congress of CPC has emphasis the goal of constructing a well-off society. Large domestic market demand and the more government investment will support the next round of China’s economic development. The development of the cultural market and the creative industry will provide new opportunities for the reform and growth of the printing industry. Yan Xiaohong, deputy director of General Administration of Press and Publication, has announced that the annual output value of China’s press and publication industry has exceeded 1.5 trillion RMB in 2011. The printing industry has contributed over 860 billion RMB, which takes over 50%. By 2016, the total output value of China’s press and publication will reach 3 trillion RMB, which means a great potential for China’s printing industry.

With the development of science and technology, various printing technologies have been applied in new markets. Except the traditional book, package and commercial printing market, printing machineries have been widely used in new industries, such as building material, textile, semiconductor, touch screen, LED,3D printing, photovoltaic, RFID, etc. Experts even foresee that ‘every object, except air and water, could be printed in the near future. Printing technologies and machineries would be widely used in all industries and all markets.’ The concept of ‘functional material printing’ will bring new hope and development space to the traditional printing industry.

In the 30 years of trails and hardships, CHINA PRINT show grows together with China’s printing industry and steps on the international stage together with Chinese printing professionals. CHINA PRINT will not only be a national printing exhibition brand, but also a grand gathering the global printing industry.
