Kodak has said Versamark users will be able to offer higher quality at peak efficiency with improvements to its inkjet VL-Series.

The drop-on-demand inkjet platform is aimed at variable-data printing, such as transactional documents and direct mail.

Kodak said enhancements include a more consistent dot-size variation, increased print head life and improved uptime and component lifetime.

Steve Ford, sales and strategic product groups director at Kodak Australasia, said: "The VL-Series is a workhorse that has helped many of our customers expand into new higher value applications with affordable colour output."

"These enhancements will enable in-plant printers, transactional service bureaus, and newspaper publishers to maintain peak efficiency while delivering the quality their clients demand and expect."

Ford added that the VL-Series was a key part of Kodak’s inkjet portfolio, and the company would continue to support the product in the future.

Earlier this month, Malta-based Miller Newsprint won best 'Digitally Printed Newspaper of the Year' at the UK's 2011 Newspaper Awards for the local edition of the Sunday Times, produced on its Kodak Versamark VL4200.
